With over 30 years of passion for collecting art, Mamoru Yamada has built a collection shaped by curiosity, instinct, and a deep appreciation for painting and printmaking.

 

His journey as a collector began during his career in the chemical industry, when art gradually became a lifelong pursuit. After retiring, he devoted more time to discovering artists and artworks across Japan, traveling to exhibitions, art fairs, galleries, and other places where new encounters with art might happen.

 

What draws Yamada to an artwork is not simply its reputation or market recognition. He looks for works that speak beyond borders — works that make an immediate impression, stir something beneath the surface, and continue to reveal new possibilities the longer you look at them.

 

MAMOSHO ART grew naturally from this way of collecting. Rather than representing a fixed group of artists, MAMOSHO ART discovers and collects works that leave a lasting impression, and shares the artists behind them with a wider audience.

 

Many of the artists Yamada encounters are still developing their recognition outside Japan. By introducing their work to international collectors,

MAMOSHO ART hopes to create opportunities for people to discover artists they may not have encountered otherwise — and perhaps find a work that they will want to live with themselves.

 

At its heart, Yamada's approach is simple: collect what resonates, discover what deserves to be seen, and share that discovery with the world.
