MAMOSHO ART held its first exhibition in the picturesque town of Boerne, Texas—a place known for its scenic beauty, safety, and growing reputation as an emerging hub for art.

Boerne proved to be a fitting location for MAMOSHO ART’s debut, made possible through the warm support and generosity of many wonderful people in the community.

The purpose of this exhibition was to introduce Japanese contemporary art to audiences in Texas through a trial event. Three featured paintings were presented, created by artists I deeply admire: Oga Ben, Yuka Yoneyama, and Aire Akiyama—each possessing a distinctly unique artistic voice.

Among the guests who attended were a diverse group of professionals, including attorneys, jewelry brand owners, business leaders, and creators from popular podcasts.

Many visitors shared their impressions of the unfamiliar yet captivating world of Japanese contemporary art.

The following are some of the heartfelt impressions shared by guests who encountered the work of Oga Ben, an artist I deeply admire.

“The moment I saw the painting, I felt quietly drawn in—not by a forceful, magnetic pull, but by something gentler. As if the usual tension within me slowly dissolved, and my feet simply stopped before it, without intention.”

“The more I looked, the more the details surprised me. The contrast is also exquisite.”

“The countless stars seem to lift the heart with their quiet light.”

“The deep blue of the sky, layered like countless veils, seems to express both the simplicity and complexity of nature. At the same time, it felt as though unspoken emotions, buried deep within the human heart, were slowly unfolding—enveloping each viewer in their own quiet tenderness.”

“I just want to keep gazing at it.”

“When you look closely at the white land that resembles a hill, you notice hints of bright colors. That subtle shift from calmness to quiet joy seems to express the gentle pleasure of simply being alive. It’s delightful to behold.”

“The soft light of the moon brings a sense of peace unlike anything else.”

“At first glance, the small house standing alone atop the hill may seem lonely. But upon a closer look, a warm, tender aura seems to flow from it, with faint smoke rising from the chimney. It makes one imagine that someone lives there—perhaps savoring this solitude embraced by nature, or maybe gathering strength to live on, feeling the warmth of the earth and the glow of the moonlight. I found myself quietly imagining such a story as I watched. A truly remarkable work.”

“It makes you want to embrace the artist who painted it. There’s such gentleness in this work.”

The experience reminded us that art, at its best, quietly connects us to something beyond ourselves.
